Uncorked: Yonah
Welcome to our Wine Education & Pairings series from Kelly’s Market & Deli in Downtown Decatur. Here we share curated bottles, seasonal pairings, and wine club favorites to help you sip confidently. Join us on our next tasting Thursdays from 6:00-7:30.
One of our favorite things at Kelly’s is introducing you to wineries you may not have discovered yet — especially when they’re doing something truly exciting close to home.
Tomorrow night, we’re proud to welcome Yonah Mountain Vineyards, a family-owned North Georgia winery that is helping redefine what local wine can be.
Located at the base of the iconic Yonah Mountain, the 200-acre estate has grown from a quiet farm into one of the state’s most visited wine destinations. Since planting their first vines in 2008 and releasing their first wines just a year later, the Miller family has focused on raising the bar. Their focus has been on blending traditional winemaking inspiration with forward-thinking innovation and sustainability. Today, their underground wine cave, solar-powered operations, and estate-driven philosophy have helped put Georgia wine firmly on the map.
But beyond the impressive facilities and beautiful scenery, what really stands out is the heart behind the project. The winery was founded by Bob and Jane Miller, who met while serving in Vietnam and built their vineyard with the same spirit of dedication and resilience that shaped their early lives. Now joined by their son Eric, the family continues to guide the winery’s growth and help shape the future of Georgia wine.
This tasting is a great opportunity to experience 5 of their wines side-by-side and see firsthand why Yonah Mountain has developed such a loyal following.
The Wines You’ll Taste
Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Rich and structured with classic Cabernet character. Expect notes of blackberry, dark cherry, cocoa, and subtle oak spice with firm tannins that make it a great pairing for grilled meats or hearty dishes.
Try it with an aged cheddar like Sartori MontAmore Cheddar.
Genesis 13 (Bordeaux-Style Blend)
The winery’s flagship wine and longtime best-seller. A polished blend showing layers of ripe plum, cassis, baking spice, and toasted vanilla with a smooth, lingering finish. Balanced, complex, and crowd-pleasing.
Try this wine with a charcuterie board featuring Spotted Trotter’s Duck Prosciutto, or for something more casual try it paired with our in house meatballs!
Pinot Noir 2021
Bright and elegant with red cherry, raspberry, and a touch of earthy nuance. Silky texture and refreshing acidity make this an easy choice for lighter fare, salmon, or simply enjoying on its own.
This wine pairs well with turkey, so try a bold flavor with our Rah’s Inferno, or build your own! Turkey + brie + arugula style would be Pinot Noir perfection.
Vintner’s Red Blend
Approachable and fruit-forward with juicy blackberry, soft spice, and a smooth finish. This is the kind of red that works for weeknight dinners, gatherings, and anyone looking for an easy-drinking but flavorful bottle.
This makes the perfect bottle to pull up to a table next door at Smileys. Pairs great with burgers!
Vintner’s White Blend
Crisp, lively, and refreshing. Citrus, white peach, and light floral notes lead into a clean finish — perfect for warm evenings, patio sipping, or pairing with salads, seafood, and lighter dishes.
Our house-made chicken salad from the grab & go deli makes the perfect touch to this white blend!
