At the Market: Chip Madness- Meet your Elite 8
Welcome to At the Market, part of our Community Events series from Kelly's Market & Deli in Downtown Decatur, where we bring the neighborhood together for the moments worth showing up for.
Did your bracket survive the first round?
The first round of Chip Madness brought big opinions, surprising momentum shifts, and plenty of snacking. After a week of fan voting both online and in-store, bracket votes, and factoring in chip purchases that counted double, we sat down and added up all the numbers from every source.
Let’s just say… there was a lot of math involved. (Have you tried drawing a bracket by hand before??)
We also learned that many of you are taking this very seriously. The arguments, the advances, the discussions? All very important in this bracket.
After tallying every vote, the Sweet 16 field has officially been narrowed to the Elite 8.
Here’s how the opening matchups played out.
Spicy:
2025’s regining champ, Zapp’s Voodoo defeated Utz Red Hot as if they were in a different league. Seriously. Not even close. Maybe next year Utz!
166 to 28
Takis Fuego defeated newcomer Zapp’s Blackened BBQ Ranch. Takis took the edge in one of the most talked-about battles, with most of the action between the kids and the adults here.
114 to 85
Kettle Branch:
Kettle Sea Salt defeated Kettle Parmesan Garlic. You know, sometimes simplicity wins.
82 to 23
Kettle Salt & Vinegar defeated Kettle Jalapeño. The runner-up from last years battle took the L early this year.
112 to 51
Classics:
Utz Honey BBQ defeated Dirty Sour Cream & Onion in a battle we weren’t quite sure who would take the win.
114 to 76
Cheetos defeated Kettle Backyard BBQ, proving that nostalgia will always catch us.
71 to 32
Staff Picks: These were our closest rounds!
Boulder Blue Corn chips defeated Boulder Malt Vinegar & SS in a battle of the brackets vs the online voters. Ultimately, the tailgate favorite was the upset we were all watching.
78 to 68
Kettle Sour Cream & Onion defeated Kettle Honey Dijon, but just barely! This one had to go to overtime voting as it was neck and neck! Ultimately, Sour Cream & Onion took the crown, showing us some matchups are unpredictable.
101 to 96
Now the competition tightens, and the matchups get tougher.

While you're in, why not grab a sandwich. Fresh, made to order on locally baked bread. Browse the market. Ask us what wine to open this weekend, or why not a couple mix and match THC beverages. We've got a pretty good selection of those too.
Kelly's Market & Deli is open Monday through Saturday 7am to 9pm, Sunday 8am to 9pm.
The Crunch Crown is up for grabs. Who are you voting for?
