At Kelly’s Market & Deli in Downtown Decatur, we’re proud to spotlight wines shaped by influential women in the wine world — from pioneering Italian estate owners to fourth-generation Argentine winemakers redefining their regions.
Whether you’re a longtime wine lover or new to the scene, these bottles are worth exploring — and we’re thrilled to share them with our community.
San Polo Rubio —
San Polo is part of an organic Brunello di Montalcino estate owned by famed winemaker Marilisa Allegrini and her daughters, Carlotta and Caterina. Marilisa is a true icon in the wine industry — she was the first Italian woman to be featured solo on the cover of Wine Spectator.
While San Polo is known globally for Brunello, the Rubio showcases a more approachable side of Tuscany — vibrant, food-friendly, and perfect for everyday gatherings.
Tasting Notes: Bright red cherry, soft tannins, and a polished finish.
Try it with some Spotted Trotter Prosciutto + aged parmesan or our Stallion sandwich!
Tenuta Regaleali Nero d’Avola —
Winemaker Joana Wells has spent more than two decades focused on California’s rugged mountain vineyards, crafting wines that quietly defy expectations. She describes her approach as a rebuttal to the “99% of stuff that’s out there” — wines that left her bored and frustrated.
Alta Heights Chardonnay reflects that philosophy: balanced, expressive, and far from generic.
Tasting Notes: Lemon zest, crisp apple, subtle oak, and vibrant acidity.

Piatelli Torrontes —
The heart of Piattelli is fourth-generation winemaker Valeria Antolin, who has been with the winery since its founding. Daughter of a renowned Mendozan winemaker and trained in agronomy at Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Valeria leads winemaking across both Mendoza and Cafayate.
Her philosophy? Treat every grape like family.
This high-altitude Torrontés is aromatic, bright, and a perfect expression of Argentina’s signature white grape.
Tasting Notes: Floral aromatics, citrus peel, and a crisp, refreshing finish.
Try it on a goat cheese crostini with our baguettes drizzled in some Graza Sizzle oil and topped with La Bonne Vie Goat Cheese.
Tenuta Regaleali Nero d’Avola —
From the historic Tasca d’Almerita estate, this Sicilian wine reflects a multi-generational family winery helping elevate the region’s reputation worldwide. Led by Alberta Tasca, eighth-generation steward of the Tasca d’Almerita estates. The estate has long championed sustainable practices and regional expression, helping elevate Sicilian wines on the global stage.
Tasting Notes: Dark plum, dried herbs, and warm spice.
Try it with a sharp aged cheddar like Sartori MontAmore Cheddar or even better? Our house made meatballs!
Curran Grenache Gris Rosé —
Founded by respected California winemaker Kris Curran, this rosé reflects her passion for Rhône varietals and thoughtful craftsmanship. Her influence helped elevate Grenache wines in the U.S., leaving a lasting legacy in California winemaking. Light, dry, and beautifully balanced, it’s an easy favorite for spring and summer sipping.
Tasting Notes: Strawberry, citrus blossom, and clean minerality.
